It was 27 degrees here when we woke up this morning. Then it cooled right down to 25 degrees before it started to warm up. Even the hoop house can't rally over digits like that. The basil is no more. The eggplants look sorry. Tomatoes and peppers are touch and go at this point. Cucumbers will be remembered fondly. (Sigh).


The blow is softened, though, by those that like it cold; radishes are looking good, spinach is kicking, chard and kale look (and taste) better than ever. It's salad season. Again.

We continue to cut, blanche, can, freeze....oh, and eat. Already opened the first jar of this year's salsa.
