brilliant mornings
we woke to fog;
coldsmoke you could taste,
could hold in your mouth
like a breath of winter.
The sun rose
over the Ruby Mountains,
swept the valley;
leaving an intricate
frosting of ice
on everything.
Inside, we started
the day slowly;
fireplace, coffee, blocktowers.
Good morning...

P.S. Guess who has a dance recital Saturday?

mmm, the light dancing in through your vast window in that last photo is stunning!
such brilliant bright...
and the jack frost touches on your sweet horse, lovely:)
My gosh, what cute little girls you have. I'm sure the dance recital was just so much fun to watch!
I look forward to the pogonip every year. It's one of my favorite winter treats.
And we have all those little playschool people from when Jonathan was a kid. The boys were playing ninja games with them the other day and took off one of their heads! Boys. I had to super glue his head and hat back on.
Merry Christmas Ellie!

Hello, I have been reading your blog for a while and thought I should say Hi. I love your photographs. I don't know very much about your part of the world so its lovely to be better educated. Plus your children are adorable.
Merry Christmas

Loving that stanza.
Also, frosty horse whiskers.
That is some beautiful world you're living in.
