feeding calves at 10 degrees
Sometimes I'm amazed
at the directions my life
has taken. It is good
to know I can still
surprise myself;
to feel that sudden gratitude
for a version of my life
I hadn't planned on.
To feel so at peace
watching steam rise
from shaggy warm bodies
as the sky fills with wings;
a thousand ducks
moving from the river
to the fields for the night,
weaving their paths
like lace
above my head.

New
Happy New Year from our living room
This year's winter
has been indecisive;
a bit of snow one day then
laundry hanging out
on the line in full sun
the next.
I keep waiting
for a real arrival.
An antelope herd races my car...
The last few weeks
we've slowed our pace,
shifted priorities.
I love a clean slate.
A rare winter rainbow outside of Fairmont Hot Springs
Resolutions...I haven't made one
in years. But there is something
about a new year;
the way it frames vague intentions
and sharpens
my focus.
New snow, ghost town cabin
And while I haven't declared
this the year of any one
particular undertaking,
my thoughts &
intentions swirl me toward
Time. With a capital T.
Time to catch my breath,
and forget about
what is supposed to come
next.
Time for my family, my friends,
for trying something new.
Time for myself.
Amaryllis; before & after
Time to enjoy now,
because things change
so
quickly.
